Murphy aspires to be a renaissance writer in the tradition of
Langston Hughes, James Baldwin, and August Wilson. His muse
has inspired him through various forms of performing and visual
arts. Murphy created WORD to be a forum for writers that honors
the cultural legacy of people of color. He sees this as being
relevant to our collective future, as well as our past. Murphy
believes that through the arts one can educate, enlighten, and
empower themselves and the world. He is currently working exploring
the power of the written word. |
